At DTU Nanotech, we exploit sciences across the traditional boundaries of technology enabling innovative solutions for the benefit of society. Micro- and nanotechnology is applied within the biomedical, life sciences, environment, energy, security, and sensing areas. The Optofluidics groups seeks a post-doc for experimental investigations of optical metasurfaces for ink-free colours.

Responsibilities and tasks
The optofluidics group at DTU pursues Danish and international research programmes to create nanotextured, multifunctional surfaces for on high volume manufactured plastic products. This includes optical metasurfaces for ink-free, plasmonic colours.

Color printing on nanoimprinted plasmonic metasurfaces is achieved by laser post-writing, for flexible decoration of high volume manufactured plastic products. Laser pulses induce transient local heat generation that leads to melting and reshaping of the imprinted nanostructures.
  • The successful candidate will join our research team and focus on experimental investigations of our optical metasurfaces employing nano-scale imaging techniques such as EELS and TEM, as well as exploring the possibilities for utilizing large scale facilities such as MAX-IV and ESS.

Other content of the position:
  • The successful candidate will also contribute to the departments teaching activities, from under-graduate to PhD level courses.
Qualifications
The successful applicant should have a strong background (PhD degree or equivalent) in experimental nanophotonics, in particular optical metasurfaces, The candidate should have solid skills in photon, electron, ion and X-RAY based characterization of nanophotonic  components.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated:
  • Ability to conduct independent research at highest international level within the field of optical metasurfaces
  • International experience.

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • An interest to drive both local and international collaborations
  • An interest to co-supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

Workplace and period of employment
Workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
The period of employment is 2 years (with the possibility of an extension up to a total of four years, subject to available funding).
