The Novo Nordisk Foundation has granted 60 MDKK for the new Centre for Intestinal Absorption and Transport of Biopharmaceuticals. At the centre, research will be conducted in the transport dynamics of biopharmaceuticals across the small intestinal barrier of the gastrointestinal tract to provide new understanding of dynamic processes in cells and tissues. The centre aims at developing methods for efficient delivery of biopharmaceuticals to their target cells, tissues and organs, facilitated by innovative peptide engineering and nanotechnologies. The centre will be headed by Professor Thomas L. Andresen and it will be located at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) with joint centre satellite laboratories located at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Boston Children’s Hospital, and with further collaboration from Monash University, Australia.
