DTU Nanotech is looking for a skilled research assistant with a strong background in engineering at the Master level. The position is available from May 2017 until 31st December 2017.
Responsibilities and tasks
The job is to perform laboratory work and documentation of new sensors. The first task will be the final characterization of a prototype chemical sniffer device developed under the EU FP7 project “CRIM-TRACK” and the second part is the development of a new fluorescent based sensor for monitoring of active chlorine species in water samples.
You must have a M.Sc. degree in micro- and nanotechnology, in engineering or similar technical degree. Furthermore you must have hands-on laboratory experience with handling of chemical substances as well as technical flair and experience with planning of experiments.
Previous experience in the development and characterization of micro- and nano-based sensors will be an advantage. Furthermore, experience in projects involving an international environment of university and commercial partners will be highly appreciated.
Experience with MatLab – Programming and extensive data analysis (including images, spectroscopy data) • LabVIEW – Equipment control and data acquisition and programming in Python will be valued high.
You will be working with experts at DTU Nanotech and DTU Environment on a daily basis. We will collaborate with you in planning experiments but you will have the responsibility for their performance and the reporting of the results. A proven track record is required.
Furthermore, the projects have close collaboration with national and European commercial partners. Some travel activities will be necessary.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The workplace will be mainly at DTU Nanotech and at DTU Environment. The position is time limited from May 2017 until 31st December 2017.
